  • Melanie Fiona - The Bridge

Melanie Fiona - The Bridge Finally. This album is so overdue. While Jazmin Sullivan's "Fearless" and Chrisette Michele's "I Am" tiptoed, at times borrowing heavily from hip-hop and at others delivering thin R&B, Melanie Fiona's "The Bridge" is so much more consistently and authentically soulful. I can't help but think of Sam Cooke's "Frankie and Johnny" every time I listen to Fiona's "Johnny." And "Please Don't Go (Cry Baby)" sounds like a reincarnation of The Supremes. I can't stop listening.
